ResumoThe ETE (Experimento Tokamak Esf¶erico) of LAP/INPE is a spherical tokamak with aspect ratio parameter of 1.5. The machine was designed to produce plasma currents as high as 400kA with discharge duration of about 30ms. Presently, the capacitor bank energy available limits the maximum plasma current to about 60kA (10- 15ms). Magnetic probes are basic diagnostics for direct measurement of few relevant macroscopic parameters of tokamak plasmas, as for example total plasma current intensity, column displacement and position. Using a more sophisticate array of probes several internal parameters of the plasma column can be inferred from equilibrium reconstruction technique. A relatively complete set of magnetic probes was developed and installed inside the vacuum vessel of the ETE tokamak as the ¯rst step in order to implement the equilibrium reconstruction technique. This set of coils comprises: one complete Rogowski coil, four partial Rogowski coils, twenty six double magnetic probes (Br, Bz) distributed in four frames around the plasma column in a particular poloidal plane. The system is completed by one Rogowski coil and eleven total °ux coils installed outside the vacuum vessel. This paper describes in details the magnetic probes design, manufacture and calibration as well as presents the characteristics of a new data acquisition system based on PCI standard with 64 channels and the initial results obtained with the magnetic probe system.
